Downtown Crenshaw Environmental Master Plan Elements

SmithGroup (and JLL) are global leaders in sustainable design, and are helping us develop an environmental sustainability master plan for Downtown Crenshaw. We aim to adapt spaces for "People First," meaning we prioritize public health outcomes, while balancing space for cars with places for human connection and contact.

The four pillars of our plan are:

  • Food sustainability
  • Water re-use and resilience
  • Community net energy
  • Sustainable design

This includes (but isn't limited to): A community solar project; a shared district energy system & Crenshaw Energy Co-op; food sustainability via both year-round hydroponic systems and community garden plots; biolphilic design and minimal carbon footprint.


Weekly Downtown Crenshaw & Liberty Land Trust Coordinating Meeting

Every Wednesday Downtown Crenshaw and Liberty Community Land Trust meet on Zoom to report out on committee/working group activities and come to consensus on committee/working group consensus. The meeting is open to the public and we ask that people attend with cameras on.

Community Investment Working Group (meetings on hold)

Every Thursday at 12 noon  

Every Thursday our Community Investment working group meets to determine the possible structures for small investors to participate and buy shares in the Crenshaw Mall development and possibly other developments and businesses in the Crenshaw community. The meetings are currently on pause.
